The challenge

Squadrix is a place where Call of Duty teams challenge each other, in French, on recent titles as well as Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2.

The challenge is mostly technical. Accounts, teams, challenges, scores to report and dispute, rankings, seasons, payments, live messaging: it all has to hold together, on a phone first.

What was built

• A Next.js and Node.js application, with a MongoDB database, developed end to end.
• Ladders by game and by format (Black Ops 7, Black Ops 1, Black Ops 2), with ELO rankings.
• Teams, challenges, a match room to report the score, and a tribunal for disputes.
• Seasons that roll over on their own, and playoffs whose size follows the number of teams that actually played.
• Real-time chat and messages, and notifications on the phone.
• A coin shop, a Battle Pass and a Premium subscription, paid through Stripe.
• The interface translated into English, Italian and Spanish.

What the site does

1. Players create their account for free and build their team.
2. They issue a challenge, play their match, then report the score in the match room.
3. Their ELO and their place in the rankings change after every match.
4. They choose their language at the top of the page.
