The challenge

Thomas sells figures, plushies and officially licensed goodies. His online shop already existed, built with a page builder, and no longer told the story of what he sells.

He wanted to speak to anime and manga fans, keep his mascot, and carry on adding products himself. With hundreds of items, everyone also had to find their series quickly.

What was built

• Every page rebuilt without a page builder, on a WordPress theme made for the shop.
• The message refocused on the otaku world, tanuki mascot included.
• A catalogue organised by department and by franchise: 40 franchises, from One Piece to Jujutsu Kaisen.
• Payment by card, Klarna or Link, through Stripe.
• A chat assistant developed for the shop: it knows which product page the visitor is looking at and answers from the real catalogue.
• Buying guides on the blog, linked to the product pages.
• The pages that reassure people before they buy: authenticity, delivery, refunds, terms of sale and legal notice.

What the site does

1. Fans go straight to their series: every franchise has its own page.
2. They see real stock on every product page, down to “Only 1 left in stock”.
3. They ask the assistant their question, and it answers about the product shown or hands over to a real person.
4. They pay by card, Klarna or Link. Delivery to a pick-up point is free from €49.
