The challenge

Clara sells gold-tone stainless steel jewellery in small batches. Orders arrived as Instagram direct messages: people had to ask whether a piece was still available, wait for the answer, then sort out delivery.

She wanted a real shop, where she adds her new pieces herself and her pricing stays simple: €10 for the first piece, €5 for each extra piece.

What was built

• A WooCommerce shop on a theme built for her, based on the mock-up she chose, in the pink of her logo.
• The sliding-scale price worked out automatically in the basket, and a calculator on the home page to see the total before choosing.
• Stock shown on every piece: “Almost gone” when few are left, “Sold out” when there are none.
• Delivery to a Mondial Relay pick-up point, chosen at checkout.
• Order emails in her colours, signed with her first name.
• An account for her, limited to the shop and the blog, and a PDF user guide for managing products, stock and orders.
• An “About me” page written in her own words, and a blog of tips.

What the site does

1. Customers see which pieces are available, and which are going fast, without messaging anyone.
2. They know the price before filling their basket: the rule is written everywhere and the total works itself out.
3. They choose their pick-up point when ordering. Delivery is free from two pieces.
4. They receive a confirmation email, then a second one when the parcel ships.
